Studenica wine

The history of Studenica wines.
It began in the 14th century, when Emperor Dušan issued a charter giving the Studenica monastery vineyards in the vicinity of Aleksandrovac for “sustenance and all the monastery’s needs”. From that time to the present day, this centuries-old connection between the most wonderful Serbian shrine and the Aleksandrovica Parish has not ended. Hence the determination of the monastery brotherhood to renew the vineyard plantings right there, in that ancient place, after more than six centuries, and thereby start a new history of viticulture. Aiming for consistency and respecting the centuries-old tradition of the Studenička brothers, the guardians of our mother Church and the greatest light of the Serbian people, – they select and plant Prokupac and Bela Tamjanika, old autochthonous Serbian varieties. But for a wine worthy of the history and name of our greatest shrine, much more than indigenous varieties is needed. In addition to modern technology, it is necessary to have the appropriate knowledge and skill, which makes it so that in a drop of wine, you can feel all the past centuries and experience history with your senses. This symphony of the best Serbian grapes, modern knowledge and technology with a centuries-old monastic tradition is a pledge, a guarantee, of the quality of Studenic wines.
