Icons

An icon (a word taken from the Greek language: εἰκών – meaning: image, image, representation) is a picture on wood, canvas or stone with the image of Jesus Christ, the Virgin Mary, other saints, angels or other events related to the history of the church and the Holy Scriptures . They are present in Orthodox churches, where they are placed on iconostasis and walls, as well as in Orthodox homes.
